How Much Does Sofa Cleaning Cost?

Price guide · Updated July 2026

Sofa cleaning (or couch cleaning) in the UK runs from about £35 to over £100 depending on size, fabric and method, with a two-seater averaging around £60.

Our own price is a flat £30 a seat, so a two-seater is £60, a three-seater £90, with no size or method premiums, and a £60 minimum visit. This guide covers how the market prices sofas, the steam-versus-dry split behind most quotes, and where the add-ons hide.

How sofa cleaning is priced in the UK

Almost every sofa quote is built from three questions. How big is it? What is it made of? And which method does it need?

Size is counted in seats. The material and its condition decide the method a firm reaches for, and the method is where the big price gaps open up.

The method matters far more than most people expect, because UK rate cards price steam and dry cleaning separately: Checkatrade lists an armchair at £15 to steam clean but £40 to dry clean, and a three-seater at £45 against £80. Dry chemistry costs more.

So the same sofa can carry two very different prices from one firm.

We collapse all of that into one number. £30 a seat.

We keep it to one method, hot water extraction, on the fabric sofas and suites we clean, at one per-seat price. No separate dry-clean rate card and no material surcharge, with stain treatment and deodorising already in the number.

What changes the price

  • Size, counted in seats. The number of seats is the main driver everywhere, which is why per-seat pricing is the clearest way to quote a sofa.
  • Material. Firms that take on specialist or dry-clean-only pieces charge a premium for them, and the gap widens with size. We clean everyday fabric sofas and suites by hot water extraction, at one flat per-seat price.
  • Stains and pet odours. UK lists put stain removal at £20 to £50 on top of the clean. Ours is folded into the fixed price, along with deodorising, which elsewhere adds £10 to £15.
  • Method. Steam and dry cleaning sit on separate rate cards at most firms. We use one method, hot water extraction, at one per-seat price.
  • Cushions and covers. Loose covers, scatter cushions and L-shaped sections all add time, and some firms itemise them. A corner sofa with us is simply counted as more seats.

Worked examples

  • A three-seater and an armchair: £90 + £30 = £120. The same pairing off Checkatrade's rate card lands between £60 steam-cleaned and £120 dry-cleaned.
  • Two two-seaters: £60 + £60 = £120.
  • A corner suite: £120, counted as four seats.

Questions to ask before you book a sofa clean

  1. Does the price cover stains and deodorising? Those two add-ons alone can put £30 to £65 on a quote built from a low headline rate.
  2. Steam or dry, and who decides? A fabric that needs a dry clean shouldn't become your surcharge on the day. With us the method is our problem; the seat price is yours.
  3. How long until we can sit on it? The honest answer runs from a couple of hours to overnight depending on method and fabric. Most of our pieces are back in use the same day.
  4. Is there a minimum visit? An armchair on its own sits under most firms' minimums, ours included, so pair it with another item or a carpet.

Why per-seat beats a vague quote

A “from” price on a sofa is where the surprises live: it climbs once someone sees the size, the fabric and the marks. Counting seats fixes the number before we set off.

No measuring. No method surcharge. You say what you've got, you get the whole price, and it's locked for 14 days with nothing added on the day.

Sofa cleaning cost FAQs

How much does sofa cleaning cost in the UK?

UK sofa cleaning runs roughly £35 to £100 depending on size and method, with a two-seater averaging about £60 and MyJobQuote quoting £50 to £150 for a full sofa. We price it simply at £30 a seat, so a two-seater is £60 and a three-seater £90, with a £60 minimum visit.

Do stains or a bigger sofa cost more?

No. Stain treatment and deodorising are folded into the per-seat price, and a bigger sofa is simply counted as more seats. UK firms often add £20 to £50 for stains on top of the clean; we don't. A seat is still £30.

How is sofa cleaning priced?

Most firms price by sofa size and method, with steam and dry cleaning on separate rate cards. We price by the seat instead: an armchair is one seat, a two-seater is two, a three-seater is three, and a corner sofa counts as four. It keeps the maths simple and the price fixed before we arrive.

Is professional sofa cleaning worth it?

For a tired, dulled or stained sofa, yes. Body oils and dust flatten the pile and grey the colour, and a proper clean lifts that out where vacuuming can't reach. Most pieces are dry and back in use the same day.
